IP Phone Buyer's Guide for Philippine Offices: Yealink, Cisco, and Poly Compared

The IP desk phone market in 2026 is at an inflection point. Cloud telephony (Microsoft Teams Phone, RingCentral, 8x8) is replacing on-premise IP PBX in many Philippine offices — and the phones for cloud platforms require certification, not just SIP compatibility. Meanwhile, on-premise IP PBX deployments (Yeastar, FreePBX, Cisco CallManager) continue at SMEs that prefer to own their telephony infrastructure.

The buying decision depends on: which phone system you are deploying, which user role the phone serves, and what your budget allows per seat.

The Three Scenarios

Scenario 1: Microsoft Teams Phone (Cloud)

For organisations replacing their IP PBX with Microsoft Teams Phone (see our guide at /insights/microsoft-teams-phone-pbx-philippines-2026), phones must be Microsoft Teams-certified. A standard SIP phone will not work — Teams phones authenticate with the user's Entra ID account, not a SIP username/password.

Teams-certified phones available in Philippine market:

  • Yealink MP54 / MP56 / MP58 (Teams)
  • Poly CCX 350 / CCX 400 / CCX 500
  • AudioCodes C450HD

Scenario 2: On-Premise SIP PBX (Yeastar, FreePBX, Asterisk)

Any SIP-compliant phone works. The market leaders — Yealink, Cisco, Grandstream — all have broad SIP compatibility. Yealink dominates this segment in the Philippines for value; Cisco for enterprise deployments.

Scenario 3: Cisco CallManager / CUCM

Cisco's enterprise unified communications platform uses SCCP or SIP protocols. Cisco IP Phones (8800 series, 7800 series) are the natural choice — tightest integration, though Yealink and Poly also support CUCM.

Brand Comparison

Yealink

Market position: Dominant value-for-money choice in Philippine SME market; most Philippine IP PBX deployments use Yealink phones.

Strengths:

  • Best price-to-feature ratio in the market — Philippine street price for an entry SIP phone (T31P) is ₱2,500–3,500
  • Wide model range from basic 2-line phones to executive colour-touch models
  • Strong SIP compatibility across all major PBX platforms
  • Reliable — low field failure rate reported by Philippine IT resellers
  • Good local technical support through distributors

Weaknesses:

  • Build quality is noticeably plastic/budget vs Cisco or Poly at the same price point
  • Advanced features (XML applications, LDAP directory) require configuration expertise
  • Teams-certified models cost more and availability can be limited

Recommended Yealink models for Philippine offices:

RoleModelPhilippine Price
Standard deskT31P (2-line, PoE)₱2,500–3,500
Reception / busy deskT46U (16-line, USB, colour)₱7,000–9,000
ExecutiveT57W (touch, WiFi, Bluetooth)₱12,000–16,000
Conference roomCP960 (Android, WiFi)₱25,000–35,000
Teams deskMP54₱8,000–11,000

Cisco

Market position: Enterprise standard; dominant in large Philippine corporations, BPOs, banks, and government agencies. Higher cost justified by enterprise features and support ecosystem.

Strengths:

  • Build quality — Cisco phones feel premium; designed for 8–10 year lifecycle
  • Deep CUCM integration; extensive enterprise features (extension mobility, supervisor monitoring, call recording integration)
  • Wide available support ecosystem — Cisco partners throughout the Philippines
  • Strong resale value

Weaknesses:

  • Significantly more expensive than Yealink for equivalent functionality
  • Full feature set often requires Cisco CallManager licensing (additional cost)
  • Overkill for most Philippine SMEs without Cisco infrastructure

Recommended Cisco models for Philippine offices:

RoleModelPhilippine Price
Standard deskCP-8811 (5-line, colour)₱12,000–16,000
Reception / supervisorCP-8851 (5-line, Bluetooth)₱18,000–24,000
ExecutiveCP-8865 (touch, WiFi, video-ready)₱28,000–38,000
Conference roomCP-8832₱45,000–60,000

Poly (now HP Poly)

Market position: Mid-to-high market; known for conference room audio quality and Microsoft Teams specialisation.

Strengths:

  • Best-in-class conference room audio (Poly Studio, SoundStation series)
  • Strong Teams Phone integration — Poly CCX series is a leading Teams phone choice globally
  • Premium build quality
  • Acoustic Clarity technology produces noticeably better audio quality on calls

Weaknesses:

  • More expensive than Yealink; similar pricing to Cisco mid-range
  • Smaller local distribution network than Yealink in the Philippines
  • Less common in on-premise PBX deployments

Recommended Poly models for Philippine offices:

RoleModelPhilippine Price
Standard desk (Teams)CCX 350₱9,000–12,000
Executive (Teams)CCX 400 / CCX 500₱14,000–20,000
Conference (Teams)CCX 600₱25,000–35,000
Conference audioSoundStation IP 6000₱30,000–45,000

PoE Requirements

All three brands' standard desk phones are PoE-powered (Power over Ethernet). Verify your network switch has sufficient PoE budget:

  • Entry SIP phones: 3–5W (802.3af)
  • Mid-range phones with colour display: 5–10W (802.3af)
  • Touch/executive phones with WiFi/Bluetooth: 10–15W (802.3af)
  • Conference phones: 10–25W (802.3at PoE+)

A 24-port PoE switch with 150W total budget supports approximately 20 standard desk phones at 6W each, with headroom for network equipment.

Provisioning and Management

Yealink: Auto-provisioning via TFTP or HTTP server, or Yealink Device Management Platform (YDMP) cloud. Works with all major SIP PBX.

Cisco: Cisco CUCM (enterprise) or TFTP-based provisioning for SIP mode. Cisco UCM Express for smaller deployments.

Poly: Zero Touch Provisioning via Poly Lens (cloud) for Teams phones. SPPS (Poly Provision Server) for SIP deployments.

For Microsoft Teams-certified phones: all configuration is pushed from the Teams Admin Centre after the user signs in — no separate phone provisioning server needed.
